MMOs and their place in my accidental return to gaming.
After losing interest in gaming, rekindling the passion through playing with my daughter and revisiting Final Fantasy XIV has brought joy and engagement back into my life.
This weeks episode of strange new worlds has been the first one that I genuinely didn’t enjoy
Had a great evening at my Bible study group. I enjoy that it happens on a Wednesday evening, it’s like a mid week reset of sorts. Really like it.
Today is a day of academic study. How refined of me 😊
Currently reading Atomic Habits (James Clear) hope it’s as good as its legend.
I had a good time playing FFXIV last night. This evening I have to resist the urge to level, in favour of writing. ✍️
Final Fantasy XIV, on Mac.
I have a lot to say, and write about how fantastic FFXIV is, still. I’m currently drafting one of my signature rambling explorations, on the topic of MMOs. But, today, I’m here to drop information and little more. I own a MacBook Air and wanted to go back to playing FFXIV. I expected this to be hard, however, it was not. In fact, it was shockingly straightforward. Thanks to a website/project that takes care of it for you.
I’m at the start of a glorious day. Breakfast, dog Walk and writing is ahead of me. I look forward to seeing how it unfolds. Hopefully calmly.
Bluesky just told me that I need to verify my age, in order to access “adult content” and direct messages. I don’t want either of those things, so, win! I guess.
I have a new back plate for my ROG Ally. While it promises to reduce heat and increase FPS, I’m most excited because it has a built in kick stand. Fitting it this evening.
If buildings were way taller, do you think lifts (elevators) would be more like trains?

I have had an awesome writing session this evening. ‘The Eternal Blonde’ is now barrelling towards the end of draft one. I’m quite excited about where it’s heading too.
Strange New Worlds was great. I realise that this is likely not a revolutionary point of view but dang it, I really liked it
Headache finally fading after two days. Feels good to be alive now.
I keep thinking about the Superman movie and grinning to myself. Sign of a good movie that is.
The superman movie with absolutely excellent thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Can’t help but notice though, there’s a lot of superman movies that are basically about real estate fraud.
At cinema, gone to see Superman. Decided that with heat and, you know, it’s a cinema, I would just wear shorts and a T-shirt. Everyone here is dressed like it’s a fashion show. I am scrub.
Tool Snobbery Is Not a Writing Skill
Scrivener is spectacular. It’s outstanding. It is, probably, the best all-in-one writing environment out there. I have written at length about it over the years. I respect the application, the business model and the legendary developer who works on it. I love scrivener. Though, I don’t use Scrivener. I know, shocking. And usually not something interesting to talk about; however, I have today seen a reddit post which vexed me, and, as such, required me to write a response.
